Party like there’s no IS a tomorrow!
It always surprises and disappoints me when I see balloons released with ribbon attached. From TV adverts to numerous articles online, the pictures always seem to show balloons sailing off with ‘tails’ dangling or even worse, with both ribbon AND plastic valves inserted.
We follow and promote strict guidelines for releasing balloons:
- Release only hand-knotted, LATEX balloons
- Balloons should be no bigger than 12” in diameter
- Balloons should be released individually, NEVER tied together in bunches
- Attach only biodegradable paper/card tags (if applicable) never ribbon, sealing discs, valves, etc
- Use standard colour balloons not balloons with a pearlised/metallic pigment
The reasons for the guidelines are because plastic valves, sealing discs, poly-ribbon, etc., won’t biodegrade and can be harmful to wildlife if ingested. Worse still, in addition to not being biodegradable, ribbons can strangle wildlife as well as get caught in power lines.
Follow the guidelines and let the show go on!
Not suitable for use with balloon releases but if you are still keen to reduce your impact on the environment when having a party, we have just the thing - 100% biodegradable balloon string! Made of natural jute, when the party is over, you can bury both your latex balloons and string in the garden or compost heap and leave them to break down in a matter of weeks.
